Goode day deare friends. I hope today's message finds you well and enjoying some lovely Autumn weather. The crisp cool air of Autumn has finally found it's way to our little spot on the map and we are ever so grateful after a week long stretch of high 80's and horrible humidity. Oh goodness, it was awful. So awful in fact that it literally made me sick so I am especially pleased with today's temperature of 60* and a blustery & chilly North wind. I believe Mother Nature was giving us one last Summer scorcher to prepare us for what looks to be a very cold Winter ahead. Our geese are already heading south!! They can be seen, almost daily, flying HIGH in the sky, skipping their usual month long layover in our fields and ponds. It does cause you to pause and wonder what they might know that we don't!!! We've never seen them leave this early!!! I am hoping it just means early snows...fingers crossed that whatever it means, we all bear it with grace and a nice hot cocoa by a cozy wood fire :).
Okay..on to the reason for today's newsletter. Our November & December Workshops.
First things first..I had so many folks interested in taking my October 28th workshop, which is the Heritage Turkey project, that I started a waiting list. I now have two folks on that list so I will definitely be holding another workshop, with the same Heritage Turkey project, the following Saturday, November 4th. If you are interested in joining in for that workshop, please give me a call asap.
AND NOW ON TO THE DETAIL FOR OUR NOVEMBER 11TH WORKSHOP...
Sweet November. I absolutely LOVE November & December!! The time of year when snowflakes start to fall...Thanksgiving, my favorite holiday, is quickly approaching and Christmas is just around the corner. A time for coziness, sipping cocoa by a warm wood fire and stitching. To me this design just speaks of November and all the wonderfulness it holds. During this workshop we will create this lovely winter door pocket that can be filled with green and displayed proudly in your home. Finished size measures approx. 8" x 4". We will create this sweet piece using Valdani Perle Cotton and Moire' & Valdani Wool Threads. We will do a bit of dimensional punching, making our tree and scarf in varying heights and punch our background with two strands of floss rather than just one. As you can see, we will also cover my circle background technique. You will back your piece with a bit of gorgeous red wool and hang it with a strip of the same red wool. Your kit includes everything you will need to complete the project.
YOU WILL NEED TO BRING TO CLASS........ your own hoop or frame (14" in size will work wonderfully) and a Cameo Punch Needle with the small & medium needle tips. You can purchase these, should you need to, here in my little corner shop, on the day of the workshop.
