IN THE MOSSY WOOD
PRIMITIVE PENNY RUG PATTERN BY DOREEN FROST
THE FINISHED PIECE MEASURES 17" X 29"
When the Winter winds were blowing & heavy snow was falling outside our little brown house, inside, while the fire roared and chicken pie baked, this pattern was born. I think out of a longing for a green landscape. I am a lover of snow and cozy winters inside our home, I do however, long for the color green when it is gone from our landscape for so long. I particularly adore the almost magical green of moss! It is one of my favorite things! Green and brown are also two of my favorite colors to use, together, in a design. I hope you love the piece as much as I do.
This penny rug is simply done and involves merely cutting two different size circles, or pennies as they are referred to, and then stitching them into stacks on a lovely background. The pennies are done using two different hand-dyed bundles from Mavis Butterfield. You will also need a background & backing wool. I give a FULL supply list, with exactly what I used for my design, with each of my patterns. I also give sources as to where you can find these supplies.
