This lovely piece features one of my favorite mammals.....The WHALE..and more specifically, The Blue Whale. Which are not actually a true blue, but more of a greyish blue due to the color of the ocean.
BIG BLUE is done in with lovely Valdani perle cotton & Gentle Arts threads (Valdani has yet to come up with the right grey for me ;~). Anyway...I've done Big Blue in both light and dark grey's with a background of rich blue with a touch of red on the corners for a patriotic feel. I've finished the piece with a wool applique backing (in case you have not guessed, it's my favorite way to finish thing these days). The deep (and gorgeous) red wool is doubled and blanket stitched on all sides. I've also blanket stitched the punched piece to the wool. It is absolutely GORGEOUS and I dearly hate to part with it, which is the case with most of my pieces AND...the reason why I have such a large inventory of them right now!!!
The finished piece measures ~ approx. 13" x 8" and will come to you signed, dated and decoratively packaged.
