This lovely piece features one of my favorite mammals.....The WHALE..and more specifically, The Blue Whale. Which are not actually a true blue, but more of a greyish blue due to the color of the ocean.
BIG BLUE is punched using lovely Valdani perle cotton & Gentle Arts threads (Valdani has yet to come up with the right grey for me ;~). Anyway...Big Blue is done in both light and dark grey's with a background of rich blue with a touch of red on the corners for a patriotic feel. The piece is finished with a wool applique backing (in case you have not guessed, it's my favorite way to finish thing these days). The deep (and gorgeous) red wool is doubled and blanket stitched on all sides.
