First things first ~ my apologies for not having more snowfolke to offer. I have several more in the works but the turkeys took over and I wasn't able to finish all of the snowfolke. I will be offering them sometime this week. :)
Okay ~ today I have three lovely little snowfolke. Two are candy bucket style which I have made beginning with a paper clay base and then added several layers of spun cotton to each. Each snowfolke has a paper clay nose (I adore their noses) One fellow has cut-out eyes, for a lovely glow when you insert a balloon light inside (two will be included for both candy buckets), and the other has tiny black glass eyes. Their hangers are made from antique French wire thread. It is quite delicate so care must be used when hanging them year after year. Each snowfolke bucket measures approximately 2" x 2 1/2" not including their hangers. The third little guy is my favorite. I really try not to have favorites with my creations but my goodness, just look at this little face! He is made entirely of cotton, except for his little glass eyes and paper clay nose. He measures 1 1/2" and includes a wire hook for hanging which makes him just a whisper under 3" EACH SNOWFOLKE has been painted and aged for a time-worn appearance. EACH has just a smattering of glitter for a little sparkle :) Will come to you packed well in its own little box, with tissue, for safekeeping year after year.

The art of creating Spun Cotton was born in Germany in 1800s. It involves the use of cotton to make small ornaments and toys. In my own personal interpretation, I may create a paper clay armature, a wire armature, or, even a paper armature, to create the soul of the object, and then form the character with many layers of cotton. I then paint the spun cotton piece with watercolor and/or acrylic paint. Each one is lovingly created in several stages and then sealed with a matt varnish for protection. I then decorate them with vintage and antique trims and add a decorative wire hanger. The entire process takes days. The created object is light and resistant. Nonetheless, a lot of attention must be paid to the small details, accessories, and additional decorations it may have.
These creations are sturdy and will hold up to the test of time however, they are not intended to be used as toys.
