I just LOVE these guys!!! I am including the story I wrote for the pumpkin folke with this listing as they are the turkeys I speak of in that story :)
Deep in the mossy wood sits an olde cabin covered in pumpkin vines. Over the years, many people wandered past the old place, smelling woodsmoke and herbs, yet never realizing a house was beneath the great heap of pumpkins and vines. Great Oak tree's. loaded with acorns, surround the pumpkin vines, and turkeys can always be found nearby. After dark, however, the place looks completely different. Yellow light, from the windows not seen during the day, shines warmly and there, between two windows stands an old stone step below a creaky wooden door with an iron handle. Inside lives an herbal woman, wearing a tattered and patched knit sweater and an apron, with a pot of harvest stew simmering over the fire, and a mug of steaming tea on the candle-lit table. Strings of dried pumpkin hang from the wooden beams, and glass jars filled with dried pumpkin seeds line the shelves. On the windowsills sit pots of herbs and several large jack~O~lanterns. At the olde wooden table in the center of the room sits her grandson, carving pumpkins, sipping mulled cider and nibbling on ginger biscuits. Doreen Frost (fyi ~ our grandson is here today and he helped me write this story and wanted to be added to it :)
